SEE ALSO...

CLC-2 Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CLC-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CLC-2 (D-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CLC-2 protein is a member of the voltage-dependent chloride channel family, which plays a crucial role in regulating cellular trafficking of chloride ions, essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and excitability in muscle and nerve cells. CLC-2 is predominantly expressed in epithelial tissues of several organs, including the lungs, where CLC-2 contributes to regulation of fluid transport and ion balance. This function is particularly significant in cystic fibrosis, as alterations in chloride ion transport can lead to accumulation of thick mucus in airways, making CLC-2 a potential therapeutic target for this condition. Expression patterns of other CLC family members, such as CLC-1 in skeletal muscle and CLC-3 in neuronal tissue, highlight diverse roles these channels play in various physiological processes. Understanding CLC-2 function and regulation is vital for elucidating involvement in both normal physiology and disease states.
