Clathrin HC Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Clathrin HC of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Clathrin HC antibody (A-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Clathrin, a crucial cytosolic coat protein, plays a significant role in receptor-mediated endocytosis, facilitating the engulfing of receptor proteins by clathrin-coated vesicles. Clathrin′s structure consists of three heavy chains and three light chains that non-covalently associate to form a distinctive triskelion shape. This triskelion structure is essential for Clathrin′s function, as the proximal segment of the heavy chain contains a binding site for light chains, critical for the assembly and stability of the clathrin coat. Proper formation of this coat enables efficient internalization of membrane proteins and lipids, influencing various cellular processes, including nutrient uptake and signal transduction.
