CLASP2 Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CLASP2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CLASP2, also known as KIAA0627 or hOrbit2, is a 1,294 amino acid protein characterized by five HEAT repeats, and is primarily localized in the cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, kinetochore, and Golgi apparatus. CLASP2 plays a critical role as a microtubule plus-end tracking protein, essential for regulating the stability of dynamic microtubules, which is vital for proper polarization of cytoplasmic microtubule arrays in migrating cells. CLASP2 interaction with proteins such as EB1, EB3, ELKS, and CLIP-115 not only stabilizes microtubules but also ensures kinetochore integrity, crucial for accurate chromosomal alignment during cell division. Additionally, CLASP2 undergoes phosphorylation by GSK-3β, a modification that negatively impacts microtubule binding ability, highlighting the importance of post-translational modifications in regulating function. Notably, two isoforms of CLASP2, designated beta and gamma, arise from alternative splicing, further diversifying functional roles in cellular processes.
