Chk1 Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Chk1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Chk1 (G-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Chk1 plays a critical role in the regulation of the cell cycle, particularly at the G2 DNA damage checkpoint, where Chk1 acts as a key regulator of cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks). By phosphorylating Cdc25C in response to DNA damage, Chk1 inhibits Cdc25C activity, effectively blocking the transition to mitosis and allowing for DNA repair. This function is vital for maintaining genomic stability and preventing the propagation of damaged DNA, which can lead to tumorigenesis. Additionally, Chk1 has been shown to phosphorylate Wee1, further illustrating Chk1′s role in cell cycle regulation. The ability of Chk1 to modulate these critical processes underscores Chk1′s importance in cellular responses to DNA damage and highlights Chk1′s potential as a target for therapeutic intervention in cancer.

Does this antibody recognize hamster total Chk1?

Thank you for your question. We do not have any data or product citations using this antibody, Chk1 (G-4): sc-8408, for detection of Chk1 in hamster. The antibody is raised against full-length Chk1 of human origin, and based on a predicted protein sequence for Chk1 in hamster (accession number: XP_003511081) this sequence shares 95% sequence identity with the hamster protein. That is a significant, and if the predicted sequence is correct, then there is a very good chance the antibody may also cross-react with hamster.
