SEE ALSO...

CD48 Antibody (4H9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CD48 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD48 is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in immune responses by acting as a low-affinity receptor for CD2, facilitating interactions between T cells and antigen-presenting cells. CD48 expression is found on all peripheral blood T, B, and null cells, as well as on thymocytes, eosinophils, and certain epithelial cells, underscoring CD48′s importance in the regulation of immune cell activation and proliferation. CD48 associates with the tyrosine kinase Lck, which is essential for T cell receptor signaling, thereby influencing T cell development and function. CD48 expression on hematopoietic and endothelial cells in rats, and on thymocytes, lymph node cells, most macrophages, and bone marrow cells in mice, highlights CD48′s significance in both adaptive and innate immune responses. With broad species reactivity and versatile applications, anti-CD48 antibody (4H9) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying immune cell interactions and signaling pathways.

Can CD48 (4H9): sc-8397 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD48 (4H9): sc-8397 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
