CD13 Antibody (H-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CD13 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD13 (H-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD13, also known as aminopeptidase N, is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on myeloid cells such as monocytes, basophils, eosinophils, neutrophils, and in myeloid leukemias, as well as on certain epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and osteoclasts. CD13 functions as a zinc-binding metalloprotease, essential for peptide digestion and inactivation of regulatory peptides like enkephalins. CD13 enhances invasive capacity and metastatic behavior of cancer cells, making CD13 a potential target for therapeutic intervention. Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) can upregulate CD13 expression in human melanoma cells, activating both myeloid and epithelial CD13 promoters, highlighting CD13′s significance in tumor progression and potential for targeted therapies that inhibit CD13 activity to induce apoptosis in CD13-positive cancer cells.
