Cathepsin H Antibody (5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects cathepsin H in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cathepsin H is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase that plays a crucial role in the degradation of lysosomal proteins, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating various physiological processes. The protein exists as a disulfide-linked heavy and light chain dimer, derived from a single precursor, and belongs to the peptidase C1 protein family, exhibiting both aminopeptidase and endopeptidase activities. Notably, elevated levels of cathepsin H have been associated with the malignant progression of prostate tumors, highlighting its potential as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. The gene encoding cathepsin H produces two transcript variants that result in different isoforms, including a full-length version and a truncated form with a 12-amino acid deletion in the signal peptide region, which are expressed in various prostate tissues and cancer cell lines such as LNCaP, PC-3, and DU-145. Additionally, cathepsin H is involved in the maturation of the biologically active surfactant protein-B peptide, further underscoring its significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
