Cathepsin H Antibody (F-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects cathepsin H of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cathepsin H antibody (F-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cathepsin H, also known as N-benzoylarginine-beta-naphthylamide hydrolase, aleurain, cathepsin B3, or cathepsin BA, is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase that plays a crucial role in degrading lysosomal proteins, essential for cellular homeostasis and recycling of cellular components. Cathepsin H is structured as a disulfide-linked heavy and light chain dimer, derived from a single precursor, and belongs to the peptidase C1 protein family, exhibiting both aminopeptidase and endopeptidase activities. Elevated levels of cathepsin H have been associated with malignant progression of prostate tumors, highlighting cathepsin H′s potential as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms of cathepsin H have been identified, with both full-length and truncated forms expressed in prostate tissues and various prostate cancer cell lines, including LNCaP, PC-3, and DU-145. Cathepsin H is involved in the maturation of the biologically active surfactant protein-B peptide, further underscoring cathepsin H′s significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
