SEE ALSO...

cathepsin D Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody targeting an epitope mapped between amino acids 171-189 within an internal region of human cathepsin D, with species reactivity in mouse, rat, and human. Anti-cathepsin D antibody (C-5) is validated for applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cathepsin D, also referred to as CTSD, is a lysosomal aspartyl protease that plays a key role in protein degradation, autophagy, and the generation of regulatory peptides through cleavage of precursor proteins. Interacting with proteins such as HSP70 and members of the Bcl-2 family, cathepsin D influences cellular stress responses and apoptosis pathways. Cathepsin D activity is tightly regulated by processing from an inactive zymogen to an active two-chain enzyme, a step facilitated by intralysosomal conditions. Dysregulation of cathepsin D or associated interactions has been implicated in cancer progression, contributing to tumor invasion and metastasis, as well as in neurodegenerative diseases. Transcriptional regulation of cathepsin D occurs through binding sites for Sp1 and AP-2, ensuring precise expression in response to cellular demands. Anti-cathepsin D antibody (C-5) serves as an essential tool for studying functional interactions and cellular roles of cathepsin D in both normal and pathological processes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Western BlotWork very nicely for WB in MCF-7 cells treated for 24 hours with estrogen. It needs to be prepared at least 1:500.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not greatI have tested the sc-377124 antibody in human brain samples. It detects several bands, a strong and clear band at 52KDa, but it was difficult to identify the band at 35KDa, there was a very weak and dirty signal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Couldn't detect anythingI was trying to use your Cathepsin-D (sc-377124/Lot:A0714) in Western Blotting of whole mice heart tissue in 1:1000 dilution. Unfortunately, I could not detect any signal, even though we purchased your more specific m-IgGκ BP-HRP0 (sc-516102/Lot:G1019) secondary antibody (1:10.000 dilution).
