CARM1 Antibody (G-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CARM1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CARM1, also known as protein arginine N-methyltransferase 4 (PRMT4), is a 585 amino acid protein located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, playing a crucial role in gene expression regulation. Dual localization allows CARM1 to influence various cellular processes, including mRNA stability and transcriptional regulation, by modifying target proteins through methylation. This post-translational modification is essential for proper transcription factor functioning, as CARM1 acts as a positive regulator and secondary coactivator, enhancing p160 coactivator activity. CARM1 methyltransferase activity is controlled by phosphorylation at a conserved serine residue, highlighting the importance of post-translational modifications in regulating function. CARM1 exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, and CARM1 gene is located on human chromosome 19p13.2, emphasizing biological significance and potential implications in various cellular contexts.
