CARM1 Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects CARM1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CARM1 antibody (D-6) is available as the non-conjugated form. CARM1, also known as coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1 or protein arginine N-methyltransferase 4 (PRMT4), is a crucial 585 amino acid protein located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, belonging to the protein arginine N-methyltransferase family. CARM1 plays a vital role in regulating gene expression by catalyzing the transfer of methyl groups to arginine residues on target proteins, which is essential for processes such as mRNA stability, DNA packaging, and transcriptional regulation. CARM1′s methyltransferase activity can be negatively regulated through phosphorylation at a conserved serine residue, highlighting the importance of post-translational modifications in modulating activity. CARM1 serves as a positive regulator for various transcription factors and acts as a secondary coactivator through interactions with p160 coactivators. The gene encoding CARM1 is located on human chromosome 19p13.2 and gives rise to two alternatively spliced isoforms, further emphasizing the complexity and regulatory potential of this important protein.
