SEE ALSO...

Calpain 3 Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Calpain 3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Calpain 3 antibody (E-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Calpain 3, also known as calpain p94, is a calcium-dependent protease predominantly found in muscle tissue, where Calpain 3 plays a crucial role in muscle protein turnover and cytoskeletal remodeling. Calpain 3 is localized primarily in the nucleus, suggesting a role in regulating gene expression and cellular signaling pathways vital for muscle function and development. The gene encoding human Calpain 3 is located on chromosome 15q15.1-q21.1, and mutations in this gene are linked to limb-girdle muscle dystrophy type 2A, a progressive neuromuscular disorder characterized by muscle weakness and wasting. Calpain 3 activity is tightly regulated by calpastatin, an inhibitor that prevents excessive proteolysis, ensuring proper function within the cellular environment. Understanding Calpain 3 dynamics and regulatory mechanisms is essential for elucidating muscle physiology and pathology.

Is there a blocking peptide for this antibody?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. Our Calpain 3 antibody sc-365277 was raised against a recombinant protein and not a short peptide, so it is not possible to design a blocking peptide for this antibody.
