Calpain 2 Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Calpain 2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Calpain 2 antibody (E-10) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Calpain 2, a crucial intracellular calcium-dependent cysteine protease, plays a significant role in the regulation of cellular processes by cleaving cytoskeletal and submembranous proteins, which is essential for cytoskeletal reorganization and muscle protein degradation. Calpain 2 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is activated by calcium ions, highlighting its importance in cellular signaling pathways and muscle function. Calpain 2 exists as a heterodimer, consisting of a small regulatory subunit and one of three large catalytic subunits, which include Calpain 1, Calpain 2, and Calpain p94. Calpain activity is tightly regulated by calpastatin, which inhibits both proteolytic activity and membrane binding, with calpastatin existing in tissue and erythrocyte types due to alternative splicing and proteolytic processing. Understanding Calpain 2 function and regulation is vital for elucidating its role in various physiological and pathological processes, making Calpain 2 (E-10) antibody an invaluable tool for researchers studying muscle biology and related disorders.
