CAD Antibody (F-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CAD protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CAD antibody (F-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CAD protein, also known as caspase-activated deoxyribonuclease, plays a crucial role in the apoptotic process by facilitating DNA degradation, which is essential for the orderly dismantling of cellular components during programmed cell death. CAD protein is activated when caspase-3 cleaves its inhibitor, ICAD, allowing CAD to translocate to the nucleus where DNA degradation occurs, thereby preventing the potential for genomic instability and tumorigenesis. Regulation of CAD activity is vital, as improper apoptosis can lead to various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
