CA VIII Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects carbonic anhydrase VIII (CA VIII) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CA VIII, also known as carbonic anhydrase-related protein VIII, is a unique member of the carbonic anhydrase family that lacks the essential zinc-binding motif required for catalytic activity, which distinguishes CA VIII from other enzymes in this family. Instead of facilitating the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide, CA VIII plays a critical role in synaptic vesicle formation and transport, making CA VIII significant for neuronal function and communication. CA VIII involvement in the invasiveness of non-small cell lung carcinomas and the growth of colon cancer cells highlights CA VIII potential as a biomarker for cancer progression and a target for therapeutic intervention. Anti-CA VIII antibody (B-5) provides a valuable tool for researchers investigating the diverse roles of CA VIII in both normal physiology and disease states, enabling deeper insights into CA VIII function and interactions within cellular environments.
