C9 Antibody (E-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects C9 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-C9 antibody (E-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. C9 plays a crucial role in the immune response as a component of the membrane attack complex (MAC), which is essential for the lysis of pathogenic bacteria. Upon activation of the complement system, C9 interacts with the membrane-associated C5b-8 complex, leading to the polymerization of 12-18 C9 molecules into a ring structure that forms a transmembrane channel. This channel allows for the passage of molecules, ultimately resulting in cell lysis and the destruction of the invading bacterial cell.
