C6ST-1 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects chondroitin 6-sulfotransferase-1 (C6ST-1) in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). C6ST-1 is a 486 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the Golgi apparatus, where C6ST-1 is responsible for the sulfation of both chondroitin and keratan sulfate, essential components of the extracellular matrix. The proper sulfation of these glycosaminoglycans is vital for various biological processes, including cell signaling, tissue hydration, and regulation of cell behavior. C6ST-1 expression is developmentally regulated across multiple tissues, with significant expression persisting into adulthood in the spleen. C6ST-1 upregulation enhances the motility of Schwann cells, which are critical for guiding growing axons during development and in response to injury. This dynamic regulation of C6ST-1 not only underscores importance in neural development and repair but also highlights potential as a therapeutic target in conditions involving nerve injury and regeneration.
