Datasheets
  • C5b-9 Antibody (aE11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a, cited in 33 publications, provided at 100 µg/ml
  • raised against purified C5b-9 of human origin
  • recommended for detection of a neoepitope exposed in C9 when incorporated into C5b-9 in both membrane bound (MAC) and fluid phase (SC5b-9) complexes of human and porcine origin by IF and ELISA; not recommended for detection of the native components
  • m-IgG Fc BP-HRP, m-IgG2a BP-HRP and m-IgGκ BP-HRP are the preferred secondary detection reagents for C5b-9 Antibody (aE11). These reagents are now offered in bundles with C5b-9 Antibody (aE11) (see ordering information below).

SEE ALSO...

C5b-9 Antibody (aE11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects C5b-9 in human and porcine samples through immunofluorescence (IF) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) applications. Anti-C5b-9 antibody (aE11) is available in a non-conjugated form and specifically recognizes a neoepitope exposed in C9 when incorporated into the C5b-9 complex, which can exist in both membrane-bound (membrane attack complex) and fluid phase (soluble C5b-9) forms. C5b-9 monoclonal antibody (aE11) plays a crucial role in studying the complement system, an essential part of the immune response. The C5b-9 complex forms during the activation of complement proteins, including C2, C3, C4, and C5, which are released as potent anaphylatoxins that trigger pro-inflammatory responses by binding to their respective G protein-coupled receptors. C5b-9 can lead to cell lysis, yet sublytic assembly on plasma membranes can paradoxically promote cell survival and activation of the cell cycle, highlighting a dual role in immune responses. This complex is particularly significant in multiple sclerosis, where C5b-9 may exhibit both pro-inflammatory effects during the acute phase and neuroprotective properties in the chronic phase by modulating apoptotic pathways in oligodendrocytes.
