C1GALT1 Antibody (F-31) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects C1GALT1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-C1GALT1 antibody (F-31) is available as a non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. C1GALT1, also known as core 1 synthase or glycoprotein-N-acetylgalactosamine 3-beta-galactosyltransferase 1, is a single-pass type II membrane protein that plays a crucial role in glycoprotein biosynthesis by catalyzing galactose transfer to specific substrates. This enzyme is predominantly expressed in heart, kidney, liver, and placenta, where C1GALT1 is essential for generating the core 1 structure, a precursor for various glycoproteins vital for cell signaling and immune responses. C1GALT1 is particularly important in maintaining kidney homeostasis and regulating angiogenesis and thrombopoiesis. Notably, defects in C1GALT1 are linked to IgA nephropathy, a condition leading to IgA antibody accumulation in glomeruli, resulting in immune-mediated renal disease. Additionally, two C1GALT1 isoforms arise from alternative splicing, which may have implications for functional diversity and regulatory mechanisms in different tissues.
