BSPII Antibody (LFMb-24) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BSPII protein of human and monkey origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). BSPII (LFMb-24) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BSPII, also known as bone sialoprotein II, integrin-binding sialoprotein, BSP, BNSP, or SP-II, is a secreted acidic glycosylated, sulfated, and phosphorylated protein synthesized by osteoblasts, osteocytes, osteoclasts, hypertrophic chondrocytes, and other skeletal-associated cell types. BSPII plays a crucial role in the initial mineralization of bone, cementum, and dentin, as BSPII is a major structural component of the bone matrix, constituting approximately 12% of the noncollagenous proteins in human bone. BSPII′s ability to nucleate hydroxyapatite crystal formation is vital for bone mineralization, which is essential for maintaining bone strength and integrity. BSPII belongs to the SIBLING family of proteins and contains an RGD sequence that interacts with the vitronectin receptor Integrin αV, potentially mediating cell attachment and influencing cellular behavior in the bone microenvironment. BSPII expression has been observed in various cancers, including lung, thyroid, breast, and prostate cancers, highlighting BSPII′s significance in both skeletal biology and oncology research.
