BRCA2 Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BRCA2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BRCA2 Antibody (D-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BRCA2 protein, located on chromosome 13q12.3, plays a crucial role in maintaining genome stability, particularly through involvement in the homologous recombination pathway for double-strand DNA repair. This function helps prevent the accumulation of genetic mutations that can lead to cancer, particularly breast cancer. BRCA2 protein contains multiple copies of a 70 amino acid motif known as the BRC motif, which is essential for binding to the Rad51 recombinase, a key player in the DNA repair process. Mutations in BRCA2 gene are associated with a significant increase in breast cancer risk, and tumors with these mutations often exhibit loss of heterozygosity of the wildtype allele, underscoring BRCA2′s role as a tumor suppressor.
