BRCA1 Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BRCA1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BRCA1 (C-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The BRCA1 gene, identified in 1990 and localized to chromosome 17q, plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability and is essential for DNA repair processes, particularly in response to double-strand breaks. This function helps prevent the accumulation of mutations that can lead to cancer, particularly breast and ovarian cancers. Mutations in BRCA1 are implicated in approximately 45% of families with a high incidence of breast cancer and at least 80% of families with early-onset breast and ovarian cancer. BRCA1, consisting of 1863 amino acids, features a zinc finger domain at its amino terminal region, which is important for interaction with other proteins involved in DNA repair. By acting as a tumor suppressor, BRCA1 plays a significant role in regulating cell growth and preventing tumorigenesis, making BRCA1 a critical target for cancer research and therapeutic strategies.
