SEE ALSO...

Bmi-1 Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Bmi-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Bmi-1 (F-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Bmi-1 protein plays a crucial role in cellular processes, particularly in gene expression regulation and stem cell properties maintenance. Bmi-1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where Bmi-1 functions as a transcriptional repressor, interacting with chromatin and influencing expression of genes involved in cell cycle regulation and development. Nuclear localization allows Bmi-1 to modulate transcription of target genes, including those associated with oncogenesis and stem cell maintenance. Bmi-1 has been implicated in repression of the Ink4a/Arf locus, which is essential for controlling cellular senescence and tumor suppression. Dysregulation of Bmi-1 expression can lead to enhanced proliferation and survival of cancer cells, highlighting Bmi-1′s importance in both normal development and cancer biology.

Can Bmi-1 (F-9): sc-390443 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Bmi-1 (F-9): sc-390443 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
