BIG1 Antibody (G-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects BIG1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BIG1 (G-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BIG1 functions as a guanine nucleotide-exchange protein (GEP), essential for activating ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs), proteins vital for intracellular vesicular trafficking. BIG1 facilitates the exchange of guanosine diphosphate (GDP) for guanosine triphosphate (GTP), promoting ARF activation that regulates vesicle formation and transport within cells. This function maintains cellular organization and communication, as ARFs regulate endocytosis and exocytosis. BIG1 and BIG2, encoded by genes on human chromosomes 8 and 20, contain a sec7 domain critical for catalytic activity and brefeldin A sensitivity, a compound disrupting Golgi structure. BIG1 and BIG2 exist in macromolecular complexes shuttling between Golgi membranes and cytosol, highlighting their dynamic role in cellular trafficking and signaling pathways.
