BID Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BID protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BID (B-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BID, also known as BH3 interacting domain death agonist, plays a crucial role in regulating apoptosis, a vital process for maintaining cellular homeostasis and eliminating damaged cells. BID contains a BH3 domain that enables interaction with other members of the Bcl-2 family, facilitating dimerization with pro-apoptotic proteins like Bax and counteracting anti-apoptotic effects of proteins such as Bcl-2. This interaction is essential for initiating the apoptotic cascade, particularly in response to cellular stress or damage. BID is predominantly localized in the cytosol but can also be found in membrane fractions, with high expression levels in the kidney and detectable levels in the brain, spleen, liver, testis, and lung.
