SEE ALSO...

β-sarcoglycan Antibody (F-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects β-sarcoglycan in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). β-sarcoglycan (F-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. β-sarcoglycan plays a crucial role in the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex, which is essential for maintaining the structural integrity of muscle cell membranes. β-sarcoglycan is primarily located in the cell membrane of skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle fibers, where β-sarcoglycan interacts with other sarcoglycan subunits—α-, γ-, and δ-sarcoglycan—to form a stable complex. Proper functioning of this complex is vital, as any genetic defect affecting one of the sarcoglycan proteins can lead to the loss or significant reduction of the entire complex, resulting in conditions such as sarcoglycanopathy, a form of autosomal recessive muscular dystrophy. In smooth muscle, β-sarcoglycan interacts with ε-sarcoglycan, a glycoprotein that is homologous to α-sarcoglycan, highlighting the importance of these interactions in muscle function and pathology. A complete deficiency in δ-sarcoglycan has also been linked to the development of cardiomyopathy in the Syrian hamster model, underscoring the significance of β-sarcoglycan in both health and disease.

What blocking solution should I use with β-sarcoglycan (F-6): sc-393679 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
