β-casein Antibody (H-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects β-casein in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). β-casein Antibody (H-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. β-casein plays a vital role in the nutritional development of newborn mammals, as β-casein is one of the primary proteins found in mammalian milk, particularly in human milk where β- and k-caseins are the only caseins present. The unique structure of β-casein, characterized by highly phosphorylated sites, is crucial for calcium-binding capacity, which enhances the digestibility of casein micelles in colostrum, thereby supporting the neonate′s early growth and development. The β-casein gene (Bca) is intricately regulated by a combination of transcription factors, including Stat5 and C/EBPβ, which respond to lactogenic hormones such as prolactin, insulin, and hydrocortisone in mammary epithelial cells. Additionally, β-casein expression is negatively regulated by NFκB during pregnancy, highlighting the complex interplay of signaling pathways that govern β-casein production. Anti-β-casein antibody (H-4) is an essential tool for researchers studying milk protein expression and its implications in neonatal nutrition and development.

Hello! has this mouse monoclonal antibody been shown to recognize bovine beta-casein? Does it recognize human beta casein? Thank you.

Asked by: 1SciChick
Thank you for your question. We recommend the antibody for mouse and rat samples . There is a 69% homology in bovine and 54% homology in human. We only warranty a specie if the homology is 95% or higher .

Is this antibody only recognizes secreted but not cytosolic b-casein when doing IHC?

Asked by: onlyyui
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately I don't have that information, but I would predict that it can detect both if they are present in the sample. If you have any further questions, please contact Technical Service by phone, (800)-457-3801 option 2, email <scbt@scbt.com>, or by live chat directly on our website, www.scbt.com.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-166530 P appropriate for?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
