    SEE ALSO...

BBOX1 Antibody (E-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BBOX1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BBOX1 (E-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BBOX1, also known as butyrobetaine (gamma), 2-oxoglutarate dioxygenase 1, BBH, BBOX, or γ-BBH, is a crucial enzyme in the biosynthesis of L-carnitine, which is essential for the transport of activated fatty acids into the mitochondria for energy production. BBOX1 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and is predominantly expressed in the kidney, where BBOX1 catalyzes the hydroxylation of γ-butyrobetaine to L-carnitine, a reaction that requires iron and ascorbate as cofactors. BBOX1′s importance extends beyond enzymatic function; BBOX1 also plays a role in the oxidative decarboxylation of α-ketoglutarate to succinate, linking the metabolism of amino acids and fatty acids. Proper functioning of BBOX1 is vital for maintaining cellular energy homeostasis, making BBOX1 a significant target for research in metabolic disorders and related diseases.

Can BBOX1 (E-11): sc-373774 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, BBOX1 (E-11): sc-373774 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
