Barttin Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Barttin in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Barttin, encoded by the BSND gene, plays a crucial role as a b subunit for the chloride channels CLCKNA and CLCKNB, which are vital for maintaining electrolyte balance in the kidneys and inner ear. Barttin (A-3) antibody targets proteins primarily located in the basolateral membranes of renal tubules and potassium-secreting epithelia of the inner ear, where Barttin facilitates chloride ion transport essential for renal salt reabsorption and potassium recycling. Mutations in the BSND gene can lead to Bartter syndrome, a genetic disorder characterized by electrolyte imbalances and sensorineural deafness, highlighting Barttin′s importance in both renal function and auditory health. The interaction of Barttin with chloride channels is critical, as Barttin enhances the currents through these heteromeric channels, and any disruption in this interaction can have significant physiological consequences. Anti-Barttin antibody (A-3) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying the molecular mechanisms underlying Bartter syndrome and related disorders, providing insights into Barttin′s function and role in cellular homeostasis.
