BAP31 Antibody (B-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects BAP31 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BAP31 is a crucial integral membrane protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum, where BAP31 plays a significant role in apoptosis regulation. BAP31 forms a protein complex that connects apoptosis-initiating caspases, like procaspase-8, with anti-apoptotic regulators such as Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL, thereby influencing cell survival and death pathways. The cytosolic domain of BAP31 contains two identical caspase recognition sites, which are specifically cleaved by initiator caspases, leading to the generation of a p20 fragment during apoptosis. This fragment remains embedded in the membrane and acts as a potent inducer of cell death when ectopically expressed. The cleavage of BAP31 is vital for the execution of cytoplasmic apoptotic events, including membrane fragmentation, and facilitates the interaction between mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum during Fas-mediated apoptosis. The BAP31 gene is ubiquitously expressed across murine tissues and is located on the X chromosome in both mouse and human, highlighting BAP31′s evolutionary conservation and importance in cellular processes. Anti-BAP31 antibody (B-10) is an essential tool for researchers studying apoptosis and related signaling pathways.
