Baculovirus gp64 Antibody (AcV5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody engineered to detect baculovirus envelope glycoprotein gp64, also known as Major Envelope Glycoprotein GP64, from Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcNPV) origin using western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) techniques. GP64 is a critical protein located on the surface of both baculovirus-infected cells and budding virions, where GP64 plays an essential role in mediating the fusion of the viral envelope with host cell membranes, facilitating viral entry and release. This localization is crucial for the virus′s ability to infect host cells efficiently and propagate within the host organism. Structurally, GP64 is a trimeric phosphoglycoprotein characterized by multiple N-linked glycosylation sites and hydrophobic termini, which anchor GP64 firmly within the viral membrane and ensure stability and functionality. GP64 undergoes significant post-translational modifications, particularly glycosylation, which are vital for proper folding, immune recognition, and interaction with host cell receptors. GP64 interacts with various host proteins to orchestrate the entry process, making GP64 a key target for studying baculovirus-host interactions and developing antiviral strategies.
