SEE ALSO...

Baculovirus gp64 Antibody (AcV1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody designed to detect baculovirus envelope glycoprotein gp64, also known as homotrimeric baculoviridae membrane glycoprotein gp64 or Major envelope glycoprotein GP64, from Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcNPV) origin using western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and flow cytometry (FCM) applications. GP64 is a crucial protein involved in the viral life cycle, primarily responsible for mediating the fusion of the viral envelope with host cell membranes, which is essential for viral entry and infection. Located on the surface of both infected cells and budded virions, GP64 facilitates the attachment and fusion processes that allow the virus to disseminate within the host. Structurally, GP64 is a trimeric phosphoglycoprotein featuring multiple N-linked glycosylation sites and hydrophobic termini that anchor GP64 firmly within the viral membrane, ensuring stability and functionality. Post-translational modifications, particularly glycosylation, are vital for proper folding and immune recognition of GP64, enhancing viral infectivity and interaction with host cell receptors. GP64 interacts with various host proteins to orchestrate the entry process, making GP64 a key target for studying baculovirus-host interactions and developing antiviral strategies. Anti-gp64 antibody (AcV1) is available in both non-conjugated form and multiple conjugated forms, including horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatile tools for researchers investigating the mechanisms of baculovirus infection, gene delivery systems, and protein expression studies.

Can I use Baculovirus gp64 Antibody (AcV1) for double staining if my other primary antibody was raised in mice?

Asked by: Trav11
Yes, you can use the Baculovirus gp64 Antibody (AcV1): sc-65498 for double staining with another mouse primary antibody. In this case, we just recommend using our directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibodies. Currently, the Baculovirus gp64 Antibody (AcV1): sc-65498 is available conjugated to HRP (sc-65498 HRP), phycoerythrin (sc-65498 PE), fluoroscein (sc-65498 FITC), Alexa Fluor® 488 (sc-65498 AF488) or Alexa Fluor® 647 (sc-65498 AF647).

What secondary reagent should I use for detection of Baculovirus gp64 Antibody (AcV1) via Western blot?

Asked by: Trav11
We recommend using one of our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins as a secondary detection reagent, such as m-IgGκ BP-HRP: sc-516102, for Western blot. A complete list of all available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
