BAALC Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects BAALC in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BAALC, a 180 amino acid protein, is crucial for synaptic function as BAALC localizes to both the membrane and cytoplasm, existing in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms. BAALC is predominantly expressed in hematopoietic and neural cells, where BAALC interacts with CaMKIIα, a key player in synaptic signaling at postsynaptic lipid rafts. BAALC overexpression in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) indicates a role in tumorigenesis and highlights BAALC′s importance in cancer research. The gene encoding BAALC is located on human chromosome 8, a region associated with various diseases and malignancies, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and several types of leukemias and lymphomas, underscoring BAALC′s relevance in both neurological and hematological contexts.
