SEE ALSO...

AVP Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects arginine-vasopressin (AVP) protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-AVP antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Arginine-vasopressin is a crucial neurohypophyseal hormone that plays a significant role in regulating body fluid homeostasis and is also implicated in certain cancers, such as breast cancer, where AVP may function as an autocrine growth factor. AVP precursor is found in various forms, including Neurophysin II and copeptin, and is present in both cell surface and secreted forms in cell lines like Skbr3 and Mcf7. AVP′s location is vital as AVP allows for immediate physiological responses to changes in body fluid levels, with excessive secretion being tightly regulated by hypothalamic osmoreceptors. This regulation is essential because increased AVP levels can lead to elevated mean arterial pressure and systemic vascular resistance, impacting cardiovascular health. AVP′s interaction with V1a and V2 receptors not only influences water retention but also has implications for myocardial function and cancer progression through pathways such as ERK1/2 activation. AVP′s multifaceted roles in both normal physiology and disease processes underscore AVP′s importance as a therapeutic target in conditions like acute and chronic heart failure, as well as AVP′s potential in managing migraine through antinociceptive properties.

Are there any issues with using sc-390723: AVP (E-8) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-390723 conjugates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ABI used this AB for IF in 4% PFA fixed brains (mouse). Briefly, after blocking the section with 10% NDS in PBST, I incubated the slices with the primary AB, final concentration 1/1000 ON at 4C and then I incubated the samples with a secondary anti-mouse Alexa 594. It worked perfectly even using a low final concentration. The signal is super clear!
