Ataxin-3 Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Ataxin-3 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Ataxin-3 antibody (A-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ataxin-3 plays a crucial role in protein degradation regulation and cellular stress responses, primarily through deubiquitinating activity, which maintains protein homeostasis within cells. This function is particularly important in neurodegenerative diseases, where misfolded protein accumulation can lead to cellular dysfunction and death. In Machado-Joseph disease (MJD) or spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3), pathogenic Ataxin-3, characterized by an expanded polyglutamine tract, disrupts normal function and forms toxic aggregates. These aggregates contribute to neurodegeneration, highlighting Ataxin-3′s significance in both healthy cellular function and disease pathology. Additionally, Ataxin-3 interacts with the N-terminus of two human homologs of yeast DNA repair protein RAD23, HHR23A and HHR23B, which are vital for nucleotide excision repair, connecting Ataxin-3 to critical cellular repair mechanisms.
