ASS1 Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects ASS1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ASS1, also known as argininosuccinate synthase or citrulline-aspartate ligase, plays a crucial role in the urea cycle, catalyzing the second-to-last step in the arginine biosynthetic pathway, which is essential for the detoxification of ammonia in the liver. The protein′s tetrameric structure, composed of identical subunits, is vital for its enzymatic function, as it allows for the proper formation of the active site necessary for substrate binding and catalysis. A deficiency in ASS1 can lead to citrullinemia (CTLN1), an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe vomiting and neurological impairments, highlighting the importance of this enzyme in metabolic health. ASS1 (C-4) antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the urea cycle and its associated disorders, providing insights into ASS1 expression and function in various biological contexts.
