NUAK1 Antibody (H-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects NUAK1 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NUAK1, also known as omphk1 (omphalocele kinase 1), is a 658 amino acid protein located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, which plays a crucial role in cellular processes such as cell adhesion, regulation of cell ploidy and senescence, cell proliferation, and tumor progression. NUAK1 contains a single protein kinase domain and belongs to the CAMK Ser/Thr protein kinase family, specifically within the SNF1 subfamily. NUAK1 phosphorylates several key proteins, including Atm, caspase-6, LATS1, MYPT1, and p53, which are integral to various signaling pathways that govern cell growth and survival. NUAK1 expression is particularly prominent in the developing central nervous system and epidermis, highlighting NUAK1′s importance in developmental biology. Notably, homozygous Nauk1 mutants exhibit omphalocele, a serious condition characterized by the failure of the abdominal wall to close properly, resulting in the protrusion of abdominal organs. This defect becomes evident at embryonic day 14.5, underscoring NUAK1′s critical role in embryonic development and organogenesis.
