Arg2 Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specifically designed to target human Arginase 2 (ARG2), an enzyme localized in the mitochondria that plays a crucial role in the urea cycle and nitric oxide regulation. ARG2 catalyzes the hydrolysis of L-arginine into L-ornithine and urea, thereby contributing to L-arginine homeostasis and the biosynthesis of polyamines, which are essential for cell proliferation and differentiation. Also known as Type II Arginase, ARG2 is predominantly expressed in extrahepatic tissues like the kidney and small intestine, distinguishing ARG2 from Arginase 1 (ARG1), which is primarily found in the liver. The human ARG2 gene is located on chromosome 14q24.1 and encodes a 354 amino acid protein, whereas ARG1 is located on chromosome 6q23 and encodes a 322 amino acid protein. ARG2 contains a putative amino-terminal mitochondrial localization sequence, which directs ARG2 to the mitochondria, highlighting a unique subcellular distribution compared to ARG1. ARG2′s function is significant in modulating immune responses and vascular function, as ARG2 competes with nitric oxide synthase for L-arginine, influencing nitric oxide production and thus affecting endothelial function and blood pressure regulation. Dysregulation or overexpression of ARG2 has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, immune disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer, making ARG2 a critical target for biomedical research and therapeutic intervention. ARG2 (C-8) antibody was raised against amino acids 291–354 of human ARG2 and exhibits high specificity and affinity, demonstrating reactivity in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ARG2 monoclonal antibody (C-8) is an invaluable tool for researchers aiming to detect ARG2 expression, elucidate biological functions, and explore roles in physiological and pathological processes, thereby advancing our understanding of cellular metabolism and disease mechanisms.
