Arc Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa antibody designed to detect Arc protein, also known as activity-regulated cytoskeleton-associated protein or Arg3.1, across mouse, rat, and human species. Arc monoclonal antibody (E-7) is optimized for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), making Arc (E-7) antibody a versatile tool for researchers studying Arc protein expression and localization. Arc protein functions as an immediate early gene that plays a vital role in synaptic plasticity, learning, and memory by regulating the cytoskeleton and modulating synaptic strength in response to neuronal activity. Located predominantly in neuronal cell bodies and dendrites within key brain regions such as the hippocampus, amygdala, hypothalamus, striatum, and cortex, Arc protein is essential for activity-dependent changes in dendritic spine morphology and function. Within the cell, Arc protein localizes to the cytoskeleton and often colocalizes with F-Actin or associated actin-binding proteins, highlighting Arc protein′s importance in maintaining the structural integrity and adaptability of synapses. Arc protein expression is rapidly induced by stimuli like growth factors and neurotransmitters, facilitating long-term cellular responses and neuroplasticity critical for cognitive processes. Additionally, Arc protein has been linked to responses to external stimuli such as cocaine, underscoring Arc protein′s role in activity-dependent gene regulation and potential involvement in neurological disorders. By utilizing Arc (E-7) monoclonal antibody, researchers can effectively investigate the dynamic regulation and functional significance of Arc protein in various biological contexts, thereby advancing our understanding of neural plasticity and related pathologies.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with Arc (E-7): sc-55475?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
