AP-180 Antibody (AP180-I) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects AP-180 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-AP-180 antibody (AP180-I) is available as a non-conjugated format, specifically designed to facilitate the study of this critical protein involved in synaptic vesicle trafficking. AP-180, also known as SNAP91 or CALM, is a 907 amino acid cell membrane protein that plays a vital role in the assembly of clathrin-coated pits and vesicles, which are essential for receptor-mediated endocytosis. AP-180 contains an epsin N-terminal homology (ENTH) domain that allows binding to clathrin triskelia through its N-terminal clathrin binding site, promoting the formation of 60-70 nm coats necessary for vesicle transport. The gene encoding AP-180 is located on human chromosome 6q14.2 and mouse chromosome 9 E3.1, and exists in three alternatively spliced isoforms, highlighting its functional diversity.
