SEE ALSO...

αA-crystallin Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects αA-crystallin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). αA-crystallin monoclonal antibody (B-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. αA-crystallin plays a crucial role in maintaining the transparency and refractive index of the vertebrate eye lens, which is essential for proper vision. As a member of the small heat shock protein family, αA-crystallin functions as a molecular chaperone, helping to stabilize denatured proteins and prevent aggregation, although αA-crystallin does not facilitate their renaturation. αA-crystallin is primarily expressed in the lens, and mutations in the αA-crystallin gene can lead to autosomal dominant congenital cataracts, highlighting αA-crystallin′s importance in lens integrity and function. Additionally, αA-crystallin interacts with other crystallins and proteins involved in cellular stress responses, further underscoring αA-crystallin′s significance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and protecting against proteotoxicity.
