α Tubulin Antibody (10D8) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects α Tubulin across a broad range of species, and is recommended for use in applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). α Tubulin monoclonal antibody (10D8) is raised against full-length α Tubulin derived from human sources and provides a valuable tool for studying the microtubule network. α Tubulin is a major structural protein of the cytoskeleton, forming heterodimers with β Tubulin to assemble into microtubules, which are essential for numerous cellular processes, including intracellular transport, cell division, and maintaining cell shape. These microtubules are highly dynamic structures that also play a critical role in the formation of the mitotic spindle during cell division, the organization of organelles, and the movement of cilia and flagella. α Tubulin is primarily located in the cytoplasm, particularly in microtubule networks that extend from the centrosome, a key region for microtubule nucleation. α Tubulin is also present in the axonemes of cilia and flagella, where α Tubulin is essential for their motility and function. α Tubulin undergoes several post-translational modifications, including tyrosination and detyrosination, which are involved in regulating microtubule dynamics and interactions with motor proteins like kinesins and dyneins. These modifications are critical for microtubule stability and are involved in signaling pathways that govern cellular processes such as mitosis, cell migration, and neuronal function. α Tubulin (10D8) antibody is an essential tool for researchers studying microtubule assembly, cellular structure, and protein dynamics across various species.

What is the recommended fixation method for IF with this antibody?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10ºC methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
