α E-catenin Antibody (G-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects α E-catenin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. α E-catenin Antibody (G-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. α E-catenin, also known as cadherin-associated protein alpha 1, plays a crucial role in cell-cell adhesion by linking E-cadherin to the cytoskeleton through interactions with β- or γ-catenin and actin filaments. This connection maintains the integrity of adherens junctions, which are essential for tissue architecture and cellular communication. α E-catenin is abundant in neuroepithelial precursor cells within the developing cortical ventricular zone of the brain, where α E-catenin contributes to the regulation of cell density and the developmental hedgehog signaling pathway. Interactions between α E-catenin and vinculin are particularly important for the assembly of the apical junction complex in epithelial tissues, highlighting α E-catenin′s role in maintaining cellular structure and function. Disruption of this adhesion complex can lead to the detachment of cancer cells from primary tumors, potentially facilitating invasion and metastasis, making α E-catenin a significant focus in cancer research.

Is there a blocking peptide for this antibody?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. This α E-catenin (G-11): sc-9988 monoclonal antibody is raised against a recombinant protein and not a short peptide, so it is not possible to design a blocking peptide for it.
