ALAS-H Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ALAS-H of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ALAS-H (F-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The 5-aminolevulinate synthase 1 (ALAS-H) protein plays a crucial role in the heme biosynthetic pathway, catalyzing the first step in heme production, which is essential for hemoglobin and various cytochromes formation. ALAS-H is predominantly located in mitochondria of most cells, where ALAS-H facilitates early heme synthesis, a vital component for oxygen transport and cellular respiration. Proper functioning of ALAS-H is critical, as disruptions in heme synthesis can lead to various hematological disorders, including anemia. ALAS-H operates alongside ALAS-E isoform, which is specifically involved in hematopoietic differentiation and iron metabolism. ALAS-H interaction with succinyl CoA is distinct from ALAS-E, highlighting unique regulatory mechanisms governing heme synthesis in different cellular contexts. Since the ALAS gene is located on the X chromosome, mutations can result in pyridoxine-refractory X-linked sideroblastic anemia, underscoring ALAS-H importance in maintaining normal erythropoiesis and overall cellular function.
