Agmatinase Antibody (G-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Agmatinase protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Agmatinase (G-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Agmatinase, also known as agmatine ureohydrolase, is crucial for the hydrolysis of agmatine into putresine and urea, playing a significant role in the biosynthesis of polyamines such as spermidine and spermine. These polyamines are essential for cellular functions, including cell growth, differentiation, and proliferation, making Agmatinase a key player in various physiological and pathological processes. Notably, Agmatinase mRNA is predominantly expressed in the human liver and kidney, with additional expression in tissues like skeletal muscle and brain. Expression is notably upregulated during hepatitis B virus infection, indicating a potential role in the disease′s pathophysiology. Human Agmatinase shares approximately 30% identity with bacterial agmatinases and less than 20% with mammalian arginases, with critical residues for manganese binding at the active site being conserved, highlighting evolutionary significance and functional importance in metabolic pathways.
