ADH4 Antibody (F-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ADH4 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ADH4 Antibody (F-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ADH4, also known as alcohol dehydrogenase 4, is a 380 amino acid enzyme that plays a crucial role in metabolizing diverse substrates, such as retinol, hydroxysteroids, ethanol, aliphatic alcohols, and lipid peroxidation products. ADH4 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and functions as a homodimer, utilizing zinc as a cofactor to facilitate NAD+-dependent conversion of alcohols into aldehydes or ketones, which is essential for metabolic degradation of alcohols in the body. ADH4 undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in multiple isoforms that may have distinct functional properties. ADH4 gene is located on human chromosome 4, which harbors a cluster of alcohol dehydrogenase genes and represents nearly 6% of the human genome, including some of the largest gene deserts found in human chromosomes. Understanding ADH4 function and regulation is vital, as ADH4 contributes to alcohol metabolism and plays a role in detoxifying various endogenous and exogenous compounds, highlighting ADH4′s importance in both health and disease contexts.
