ADAR2 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ADAR2 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ADAR2, also known as adenosine deaminase, RNA-specific (RED1), plays a crucial role in RNA editing by converting adenosine to inosine, which is essential for the proper functioning of various proteins, including the glutamate receptor subunit B. This editing process is vital as changes in the amino acid sequence of proteins influence their function and activity. ADAR2′s ability to modify its own pre-mRNA and create new splice sites highlights ADAR2′s importance in regulating gene expression and protein diversity. Furthermore, ADAR2′s translocation from the nucleolus to the nucleoplasm enhances the editing of substrates, indicating a dynamic response to cellular conditions. With alternative splicing resulting in multiple transcript variants, ADAR2′s function is intricately linked to the complexity of RNA processing, making ADAR2 a significant target for research in neurobiology and other fields.
