ACTL8 Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects ACTL8 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ACTL8 (A-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ACTL8, also known as actin-like protein 8 or cancer/testis antigen 57, is a member of the actin-related protein family, characterized by an actin fold that plays a crucial role in spindle orientation, nuclear migration, and chromatin remodeling. ACTL8 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and is notably expressed in the testis and pancreas, where ACTL8 contributes to essential cellular processes. With a length of 366 amino acids, ACTL8 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1, which spans 260 million base pairs and contains over 3,000 genes, accounting for nearly 8% of the human genome. This chromosome is home to numerous disease-associated genes, including those linked to familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson′s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia, and Usher syndrome. Aberrations in chromosome 1 are implicated in various cancers, such as head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma, and multiple myeloma, highlighting ACTL8′s relevance in both normal physiology and disease states.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-377372 P appropriate for?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
