SEE ALSO...

Aciculin Antibody (14F8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Aciculin protein of mouse, rat, human, bovine, and avian origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Aciculin antibody (14F8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Aciculin, also known as PGM5 (phosphoglucomutase 5) or PGMRP, is a 567 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the interconversion of glucose-1-phosphate and glucose-6-phosphate, which is vital for cellular energy metabolism and glycogen synthesis. Aciculin is localized at cell junctions and is predominantly expressed in smooth and cardiac muscle, where Aciculin binds magnesium as a cofactor, facilitating enzymatic activity. Aciculin interacts with key structural proteins such as dystrophin and utrophin, suggesting involvement in maintaining cytoskeletal integrity and function. Notably, Aciculin exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 9, a region that contains over 900 genes and represents nearly 4% of the human genome, highlighting potential significance in various biological processes and disease states.
