SEE ALSO...

ABCG2 Antibody (5D3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects ABCG2 of human origin by immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). ABCG2 (5D3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter family, to which ABCG2 belongs, plays a crucial role in the transport of molecules across cellular membranes using the energy derived from ATP hydrolysis. ABCG2, also known as the placenta-specific ABC transporter and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP1), is particularly significant due to its ability to confer resistance to a range of chemotherapeutic agents, such as anthracyclines, mitoxantrone, bisantrene, and topotecan. This resistance mechanism is vital in cancer treatment, as ABCG2 can impact the efficacy of chemotherapy. Under normal physiological conditions, ABCG2 functions protectively by expelling toxins from cells and is integral in regulating stem cell differentiation. ABCG2 is responsible for the side population (SP) phenotype and is widely expressed in various stem cells, marking ABCG2 as an essential stem cell marker. Additionally, ABCG2 may undergo N-linked glycosylation and can dimerize in vivo, which are important post-translational modifications that can influence ABCG2 function and stability. ABCG2 is abundantly expressed in the placenta, liver, intestine, and stem cells, highlighting ABCG2′s diverse roles in both normal physiology and disease states.
